I am seriously looking at this jig package. I have used my large belt-sander for chisels for a long time and it works great, but my problem is it just does not get the use for the space it takes up. I also need a better bench grinder to shape and sharpen metal lathe bits. I have debated building my own, but I kind of like this jig and the cost is not too bad.

Plus, I really like the way this swings for adjustment!

Come on Lee, Your not going to be satisfied unless you build it yourself.
I've read about all that you do and making it is half the fun.. Right?

I envy you guys who can use these fancy jigs, I am still stuck doing it by eye[:D] I not only sharpen by eye I play the piano by ear[:)]
I have never used this jig but I have used the Ellsworth jig and this one looks like it would work better, aloha.

Chris, I do hand sharpen my skews and seeing that I use them almost all the time, I don't use my belt sander jig too much. I want to get rid of my old belt sander and replace it with a nice grinder set up and build a table attachment for my lathe to run a sanding disk on it. I need the space the belt sander takes up and it's always int he way.

Here is my home-made jig, nice and easy as the belt sander had a hole for the table to sit in.

Hi Lee, now I envy your home made jig you made, nice job. I think I envy your clean shop, my sander has about 2-3 inches of dust on it at all times, my other tools are the same, when people stop by it gives them the impression that I actually work in my shop, some think I only play in my shop all day with Koa[:D] Aloha.
