TWICE......

I have over te last couple of days had the misfortune of having to disassembe a Majestic two times. While disassemblingthe first time I chipped a piece of the Tru-Stone blanks off.....No big deal there. I take both barrells and turn a small piece off both and segment a band on them. While assembling the 2nd time I had inadvertantly placed the cap upside down on the threaded end.......you guess pressed to hard and cracked the finish, then I figured out my mistake. The piece that chipped off is laying next to it just for reference.

Does anyone have a better way to disassemble them than a punch set?

here it is after all the mistakes.

That one is excellent! I don't see any flaw with it. It didn't turn out like you wanted, but it is nicely shaped and the colors are good and it looks balanced.

Sorry Phil, I don't think there is an easier way. They're a pretty tight fit in the 1st place, especially the cap.

Have you tried using a hardwood dowl instead of the metal punch set? Me either, but it might be a touch softer on the internal parts.

Unfortunately I can't offer much. I've made several, but never had to disassemble one yet. Transfer punched would be the first thing I'd reach for disassembly on them though.

I always takes the burrs of the end of the in side of the tubes, before i assemble them. Just in case something like this happens. It makes it alot easier to disassemble. Take your punch, the set your hammer upside down. And hand onto the punch and blank with one hand. Then beat the bejesus out of it. Dont worry about the plastic thread piece. The end will crunch alittle. But will not crack, as being a VERY durable plastic

I know that pen, ha ha ha. You did a great job on the copy boss!

I've taken a couple of the majeststics apart in the past and it gets pretty rough. No real jig out there and just used a punch and a hammer. Best of luck

there were only scallops to begin with......then I broke it. This one has the best set of scallops to date.

you deserve the credit for starting it.
