I am seeing those advertising links connected to key words in the threads. Are they supposed to be there?

If its your mac, its most likely less "virus like"...
Are you using safari or firefox?
If safari, go to safari->preferences->extensions ... you most likely shouldn't have any (or very few)... If you have any you might want to uninstall it (since you probably clicked something that installed it w/o you realizing what it was.
If firefox, look at add-ons and disable any you don't recognize.

I had the same thing and eliminated it when it was found in my programs. Why don't we find this person and do something to them. Not nice things.

I agree. this person needs a good head smack with a hard object. I still can't figure this out.
DealCabby is bundled with some "legitimate" programs and toolbars. If you installed anything recently, there's a potential infection point. If you didn't, then there are many other infiltration means you could have fallen victim to.

Just went through this on a brand new computer. I loaded a free malware program and ran it and was really surprised the number of objects it came up with on a new computer. I deleted them all. I then found some unsolicited programs and uninstalled them. Mine was "conduit" or something like that and a toolbar I had never seen before.

What did you download?
My wife opened an attachment her Aunt "sent to her" Her aunt did not know her e-mail had been hacked. I am sure that is where it came from. May have to time machine back a couple weeks.

Conduit goes disguised as several different names. I took off two different ones last week. CNET.com is the prime offender. They attach it to all downloads. Do a google search on cnet bundling malware

These are good instructions. It isn't easy to get off. There are a lot of steps, but none of them are particularly difficult.
