The new Square software is really impressive. Among the many new features is the ability to print seamlessly and wirelessly to any printer, reprint reciepts, even skip receipts, manage inventory, integrate POS hardware and even change the really cumbersome "tip" function.

It looks like Square is finally getting it together!

I expect in the very near future that credit card processing will no longer bound by a Country's boundries.

As we move toward a global economy, credit IS ALREADY becoming more of a "global" thing than a "Country" thing!

I fully expect the "Americas" to become one entity in the eyes of credit before 2013.

Andy, I have the latest square app on my iPad and it only support 2 different receipt printers. It does not support any printer as you say above. Are you using the Android version and are you sure it support any printer?

The previous iPad version allowed you to skip receipts and manage inventory so nothing new there.

Yes, in fact, it does.
The only problem with using another printer other than Star is that you can't use the cash drawer, since the drawer plugs into the printer.

I am using both a HP wireless printer AND an old USB printer connected to my LAN.

They work flawlessly!

With the LAN printer, I did have to download PrintCentral, but it works EVERY time.

Oh, to answer your question, I am using IPhone OS 5.0.1 and IPad 2 with the same OS. I did rename my printer Star XXXX in the printer setup software, and set the selection to DHCP, the Phone found the printer and prints!

Are you using the iPad version or the Android version? If it is the iPad version, how did you set up the printers? When I went in to print a reciept, it told me that it only supports the start printers and did not give me an options to use another printer.

Rename your wireless printer Star and let the software "discover" it!

I have been using it for the past 2 months. Works great customer seem to like it.

If you have been using it for the past 2 months, You are not using the latest release.

As a "Beta Tester", I just got the new software release last Thursday.

The final version MAY NOT be completely rolled out yet. The lateset version was to be available on Itunes on 11/11/11, but was apparently late.

How the heck do I do that? :) I have an HP e-print air-print enabled wireless printer. I admit I don't know a lot about wireless.

Curtis:
Virtually ALL printers use a "standard" code written by Okidata, long ago and then adapted by HP, sometime ago.

Tomorrow, I'll try to find the setup changes and PM them to you. Which air printer would you like to use?

It is done exactly like cloning a MAC address.

That helps me a lot! I am not a Mac head. I still prefer a PC for my computer! I have no idea how to clone a Mac address!

MAC Address is actually MACHINE ADDRESS/ACCESS CODE. It is actually a "serial number" or physical machine address for networking hardware. It is used in ALL computing applications, across ALL platforms, in ALL networking applications.

What we are doing here is making your printer "think" that it is one of the Star printers supported by SUI. (Square).

Hmm... I did that (I have the same printer as curtis). Now on my iPad, when I print out of a normal app, the printer is called "Star", but the square app still says "no compatible printers found" :(

Any other thoughts on this??
