You see something and want to make one.

You think of it and want to make it

You see something and know you can make it better

pretty soon you have a list of things to make that is so long that you realize you will NEVER make it all and if you did you would only be able to make one and everyone knows the first time you make something it will suck (Think about that first pen)

So many cool thing to make and so little time.

Pens (kitless and kits, self cast blanks), cabinets, skate board decks, chairs, tables, gun stocks, grips, rocking chairs, display cabinets, hand planes. And that is just what was gushing from my brain today.

I need to start writing these things down and making sketches. Maybe that will help focus me. Yes, I have ADD.....ooo look squirrel.

Oh yeah...sometimes I get headaches and steam starts coming from my head! So much stuff to do...so little time!

Yep. I'm back on my knife-making quest. Been spending more time the knifemakers forums trying to get my part list together in order to build my own grinder. Just one more sink-hole for my money to fall into.

I started simple woodworking when I was 7 years old , worked at it up until now. I will be 80 in a few months and haven't even made a dent in the list of things my wife wants, so I long ago forgot about my list.

All the time. I just have to constantly remind myself that there's not enough of "me" to make everything I see. So I try to focus on the things that really interest me the most and that narrows the possibilities slightly.

My list is not what can I make but how many can I make, I guess my brain is kind of messed up because I can't drive past a tree blow down or a broken branch in a tree or even the stuff the grader has pushed up along side the road without wondering how many pen blanks I can get out of it ! Linda says I should not be allowed to drive anymore because I can't keep my eyes on the road, well I think as long as it's trees and wood and not the girls I should be allowed to keep driving Wouldn't you say ?

I have ADHD and my issue is ooh look at that beautiful Siberian Husky! I do not have any artistic ability to sketch up something so I would have to take a picture of what my mind is thinking.

You describe it as if it's a problem. Those who are content to just sit on their butts in front of the T.V. are the ones with the problems.

DaVinci's journals were full of ideas that he never got around to making. I wonder if he felt the same way.

And then all the cool jigs to make cutting, building, sanding, clamping, finishing easier. Also need more benches, storage cabinets, and tool carts to add to the workshop.

Oh yeah, and all the cool holders for your sanding belts, discs, router bits, saw blades, hand tools, clamps, etc., etc. etc.

Wow, I am not going to be able to sleep tonight. I have so many things that I just absolutely must list and prioritize.

At one time I had so many different hobbies, sports and projects that I couldn't master any of them and my projects always feel short of my goals. I refocused on getting that list smaller and thinning out the projects and now I am rather good at whats left........the best part? I still have so many things to do that I will never run out, but now I am happy with each project I finish and my performance in the few sports I still participate in. Selling off all the old gear has left me better equipped as well.

Hmmmm....

Never make a to-do list. I think of it like this...if you really want to do it - you will remember and you will do it. If you don't really want to do it - you will forget or you will notice that you don't want to do it bad enough to get off your, duff, pull your pants up, turn off the boob tube and do it, which means you really didn't want to in the first place.

In addition, personally I have found that when I want to make something and don't do it right away, I keep finding other things that I want to do more, so once something went on a list it would never come off.

I am going to adopt this philosophy for all the things my wife wants me to do ...
