Woodcraft is having their anniversary sale right now. 10% off power tools, 15% off a bunch of other things, including pen kits. Did anyone find any good deals? I was looking at their pen kits, but they are not as cheap as other sources, even with their discount.

You will always find pen kits from our IAP members who have E businesses cheaper than a box store like Woodcraft that has to pay, rent, insurance, salaries etc.

Everyday I'm vertical is a great day

I had a $6 in store credit and bought a $10 piece of norfolk pine for $4. gonna cut it up for pen blanks. It had 8 knots and alot of color variation so I should end up with some good pen blanks.

other than that not really, unless you need glue which they never discount.

I was thinking of driving over for a bandsaw blade, but it is almost 50 miles round trip, and the cost of gas is more than I would save!

I just purchased quite a few pen kits at WC today and I'll tell you 2 reasons why.
Some of their kit prices are ridiculous, but some are pretty close to comparable and with the discount are cheaper then similar kits online. Plus I don't have to pay for shipping, nor do I have to wait. Those are just benefits, not my reasons.

Reason one is I want to keep my Woodcraft in the area. I've spend plenty at Exoticblanks, Beartoothwoods, ArizonaSilhouette and Woodturningz over the last year.

Reason two is that I find I do not have to replace the ballpoint refills of the kits I purchase at woodcraft. I don't care if it's a PSI product or a BereaHardwood product from one of the online vendors I've already mentioned, I must replace the refills. That will reduce my cost further.

I'm in woodcraft about once a week.

Stopped in today for some wood double pen boxes for an order - nice for the price. And I picked up a wolverine vari-grind jig.

Many if the chrome plated kits are reasonable. More than the online vendors but if you only need one or two, it saves on shipping.

My store had a bin of discontinued pen kits for 30% off too. Nothing I wanted though.
