I like the pen, but what impresses me the most is the picture is much better than your other ones. Much clearer.

Considering the source I don't need the false flattery.
Perhaps I should post some of what you wrote.
If we had a gump button I would not have to read your patronizing remarks.

Wish I could believe you but in your e-mail you said not to pay attention to compliments made on this forum.

I am not a hunter or own any firearms,have no problems with those that do.
I just ask anyone who I think might have or know someone who has casing if I can buy a few and they give them to me.
As far as what fits each kit, I figured that;s what the lathe and chisels were for.
I do It the other way around I make the pen fit the casing,
I know I have some 30.06 which are close to a 308.
I look at them and if they are around 1/2 inch I think can make it work
More to come tomorrow, just can't get a good picture tonite.
 
Great looking pen Eagle. I took the brass & bullets out, and now laying on my work bench in the way. I was going to do one last week, but got side tracked again.

I can't tell, is it a click or twist? Antler is definately the way to go, for a bullet pen.

That is a much better photo as well.

Beautiful pen Eagle! [8D]I have to try to make one for my father sometime soon. I’m also curious to how you attached the clip and is the center band antler as well?[?]

I like the pen. The 30.06 is an old round, .308 been around too, what some guys did was called Wildcats, they took standard .30 cal and necked them out, made a new round. So, visit the Local Range and you'll be surprised at the variety of shell casings...[:)]
 
For your purposes, just think of the 30-06 as being a little longer than the .308.

Thanks for the clarification Frank.
Like I said I know nothing about ordinance.
I thought I was referring to the caliber as in shell dia. not length.
It doesn't really matter.
THe easy way to do these would be to fill witha resin and drill for the tubes.
The problem is I don't have a way to drill them that accurately.
That being the case the casing needs to be cut to be put on the turned "blank".
( I loved Chuck Conners as the Rifleman)

30.06, 22/250, .308, .223 all indicate barrel sizing.

Bullets are another story, they come in weights called grains.
You can have a 180 grain bullet in 30.06, or 160 grain etc, etc...

Cartridge length/size is based upon caliber and bullet size.

Remember the "wildcats"? A 22/250 is one...[8D]

It's been a lifetime since I last reloaded...[:I]
