OK so I woke up yesterday with no water...thinking my jet pump (I have a dug well) lost it's prime I went to the basement to try to get it going. No luck. Had the plumber over to confirm my fears, the pump is pretty much dead, :mad:however he then tells me that the owner was inquiring why I had this pump installed when I needed a submersible one. Good question as he installed this pump 4 years ago!!!:mad: So now I am sitting waiting for them (20 minutes late so far) to come back to install a new pump, which I am expecting to cost around $1000 - 1200 all said and done.:mad::mad:

On top of this my shop is getting redesigned as I have a new DC to install and my current layout just didn't work right, so I can't even turn :mad::mad::mad:

I know I shouldn't whine and cry, especially where we have friends in the hospital and families are in mourning, but it has been a frustrating 2 days.

If you have a dug well you don't need a submersible...at the depths of dug wells a jet should work just fine. Had one for years on a 110 foot drilled well.

true, but I failed to mention that the dug well is approx 140 feet away from the pump, with a 15 degree uphill slope from the well to the pump. Plus the well itself is about 10' deep. While it worked, the pump was working too hard which is why it croaked in 4 years
