I have been selected as a presenter for the American Association Of Woodtuners (AAW) National symposium in Atlanta this year. The symposium will be held June 10 – 12 (2016 Symposium - Atlanta - American Association of Woodturners) . I will be doing two rotations on pen turning / making and I am planning on sharing my experience in going from a simple wooden pen on gold a slimline to self cast and custom pens (my Steam Punk Mickey Mouse Copper Penny is below).

I am planning on going through all the steps from blank / kit selection to drilling / turning / finishing to actually marketing. I will be talking about enhancing the wooden pen, turning alternative materials like acrylic, my experience with casting, and a lot of examples.

The presentation will only be 90 minutes and I have a lot of content, but if you are planning on attending and / or have a topic I should consider please let me know.

Thanks,
Mark

It's too bad you can't break up your presentation into two parts. Experienced turners could be bored in the beginning and then you might lose them for the rest of the presentation. As a teacher, I know it's hard to maintain interest in a topic when there are so many different levels of knowledge in the classroom.

Congrats on the honnor. I will be looking for you and hope to meet you there.
Yes, unless something develops that I don't see happening now, I will be attending.
