I know Christmas is coming and that's all lots of folks are thinking about, but what's everybody doing for New Year's?

I'll be doing our usual tradition: Keep the kids up to watch the ball drop in New York, drink sparkling apple cider, and go to bed.

I haven't gone out on New Year's in many years. Not after watching the drunks driving around. Hence "Amateur Night". These people aren't normally out drinking, and they don't know what to do with themselves.

The best way is to watch it on TV. I stay off the streets now. Too crazy out there!

We set the clocks ahead an hour, let the kids watch the ball drop in NY and send them to bed. Then we set the clocks back and enjoy an hour of New Year's Eve in peace and quiet.

Wife and I go out to a early dinner and a Movie. Then home by 10:30pm and listen for the gun shots at midnight. When we were younger (a lot) we out there on Amature night, we were lucky. As we got older we would get a room at one of the local hotel parties and be safer now we are home and safe. The gun shots are real in our neighborhood. we keep the dogs and cats in and try to keep them calm.

Might even go out in the shop and turn a pen for the new year.

Have fun, be safe so you can enjoy the New Year.

Since, for the last 9 years I have started the new year with a 120 Mile bicycle ride, I will be asleep, the wife usually beats me to bed.

Up at 4:00 and out on the road by 6:00 home by 6:00 pm and in bed by 9:00 PM.

I used to have big parties. I would drink a case of beer, and some jello shots.. while smoking a big 20 pound ham. Since I quit drinking about five years ago I'll probably either be in the shop, streaming a show, or playing a game.

I'll be watching College Football Bowl games and working as an adult beverage inspector! Very time consuming work, but someone has to do it:)

My mother volunteers at a senior/nursing home near her house...every new year's eve, they start the party at 8:00 and move the clock forward an hour every 15 minutes! Celebrate at 9:00 and party's over at "midnight" and everyone can go to bed!

Holy cow. Time moves fast enough for those old folks. There your mom goes and speeds it up even more. That is cruel.

I get together with family. A few od my cousins, aunts, uncles, and my immediate family. We play about 5 or 6 hours of trivial pursuit. Old people versus the younger people!! I also partake in some of my finest tequila's on the rocks. It makes for an enjoyable night!!

A couple of years ago, I'd be getting blacked-out drunk, blowing stuff up and making prank calls on other people's cell phones. Now, it's just hanging out at home and enjoying quiet time since I stopped ingesting anything mind altering.

Well

We quit going out on New Years Eve about 20 or so years ago. We now say we are going to stay awake and watch the ball come down in the Big Apple but the operative word there is "say". My wife hasn't stayed awake for years, I usually have to wake her....but there's no guarantee that I'll be awake either.

Kids will be gone with the grandparents :bananen_smilies051: and the lom and i will just relax. I have a bottle of 20 year old single malt that has my name on it.:bananen_smilies046:

That's my method of celebrating the new year...

LOL I have no way of watching the big ball fall, haven't made it to midnight in years.

I'll be spending new years eve keeping my wife warm while we watch my son play with his Yule gifts. And who knows we might make it to midnight if the northern lights make an appearance.
