Alternative slimline band Here's an idea I came up with and it came out all right go and buy stainless steel beads off of Amazon. Then I drill a 6.45 mm hole in some HDPE and turn it down on my lathe to fit inside the bead then pressure fit it to the inside of the bead. Here's what One

Great idea, and it opens up a new world of possibilities. I can't quite picture how you did this, though. You aren't drilling the bead to fit onto a tube, but attaching it to a custom piece that you made from HDPE?

Yes I turn down a length of HDPE and then press it into the bead which is 8mm inside diameter. And then slide it over the pen transmission

Hmm, you could almost just cut a tenon and glue it right on. So many ideas... I just love that around here.
This titanium bead has a 7mm hole. $24 makes it an expensive center band, though.
