I don't have easy access to a 12.5 mm drill bit for the cap of a JR Gent rollerball pen. The ½ inch drill bit that I do have is larger by about .0079". I normally use Gorilla glue to glue in my tubes, so there would be some expansion of the glue to fill the gap. Has anyone successfully used a ½ inch bit?

Thanks,

Wade

I think I use the 31/64th bit in my set. It's the closest to Half inch without being half an inch. Then I sand out the inside so that the tube is a slip fit and glue in.

The half inch poses some problems. It is sloppy enough that the tube is likely to be "off-center" relative to the material (wood or plastic) you are drilling. So, when you turn, there is a VERY THIN wall on one side, making it VERY EASY to catch (DAMHIKT!!) and tear it apart.

The 31/64 and sanding method is MUCH more likely to succeed regularly!!!

Mike and Ed... thanks for the information. I will go with the 31/64 bit and use a transfer punch and sand paper to enlargen the hole a bit as you both have suggested.
