PVC is very bad for air lines. It gets brittle with age, then it blows, shrappnel all over. I have seen this happen in a machine shop. BAD NEWS.

LISTEN to everyone here. Do not ever use PVC (Pretty Vicious Cuts) for an air supply line. Do not even consider it as the end results can be dangerous if not deadly!:eek::eek:

Besides all that, PVC for an AIRLINE, well I doubt that it would ever fly in the friendly skies.

Heavy weight copper is good for airlines --- but not the lower pressure rated water line grade from the home depot and Lowes. Suggest 3/4 inch schedule 40 supply or larger and then 1/2 inch drops to the connectors. Do not forget the valves on the branches so you can isolate the drops when you need to work on things. I like ball valves personally.

Pressure losses with high air flows to air tools robs effectiveness and air tools use high volumes of compressed air.

I'm not a fan of black pipe either. I put that in my garage and I have to fight rust all the time in the float valve in my water filter. I'd go with copper.

Could be wrong; but I don't think "schedule 40" is a rating designation for copper pipe??
