Air blower

Never thought of that. I do have a large fan blowing over my right shoulder into the cutting/sanding area. Blows like a hurricane and kicks most of the smaller, lighter particles away from me. Doesn't do much for the chips and chunks.

I have a dust collector. I don't know what an air blower would accomplish other than stirring things up and getting a lot of dust into the air that I don't want to be breathing.

If you do rig up something like that how are you going to deal with the dust being thrown up into the shop?

Lots of compressed air cooling and chip clearing in metal machining. It can be noisy though.

Then you just take deep breaths to clean the air.

I intend to rig up an air line to my lathe. I just have not had the time yet. I have a flexible adjustable line and it will direct a full stream of air at the drill bit and blank for when I drill my blanks on the lathe. I do that now, but thought it would be more convenient to have a better setup

That's what I been thinking of doing with the existing line but not at full pressure to direct some of the chips and dust into the dust collector scoop behind the lathe. Looking for ideas?

How about just a little 4 inch fan blowing on the work area? Set at a low speed to just move the ribbions/shavings. Not high enough to put the crap in the air or over the whole shop?

Lot cheaper/faster then running a compressor. Quieter also.

You want a vacuum not a blower, if you want to do things right. I just can't imagine anyone, wanting to blow that much dirt and dust around. Everything in the shop will be covered in dust. I can understand wanting to have air at the lathe, but, just to blow chips out of a vessel with.
