ABS rods for kitless pens?

Does anybody use ABS rods for kitless pens? LAMY SAFARIs are made from this material (legos are too). They are virtually indestructible and light weight. I have no idea how they thread or where to get them. Any experience would be welcome.

McMaster-Carr sells ABS rods in black and beige. I don't know how well it takes threads.

I assume Lamy pens and Lego are injection molded and not machined (or in our case, turned on a lathe), given them perfect dimensions and finish. While I understand ABS is machinable, I don't know how easy it is to achieve a flawless finish like some of the other materials we currently use (like acrylic, urethane, etc).

Try Delrin ( acetal), it machines beautifully.

Can Derlin be glued?
The solid black Derlin I have might look more attractive if mixed with something colorful or metal bands.

No, Delrin can't be glued.
