This has been a real pain to get done----The customer calls it a bench with storage---I would call it a heavy duty cedar chest. It is made out of 8/4 eastern Red Cedar. I just spent the better part of last week getting this Bench built (customer is always right)
It will get a couple of coats of polly and it's out of here and back to making pens.

This guy has a real nice one room log cabin that they use on weekends. That's where it is headed---he has bought and order several item from us in the past couple of years. They must like heavy.

remember, if you are going to use poly on eastern red, use water based. ... Oil will often not fully cure, sometimes for weeks or months, if at all! DAMHIKT...

Yup it's 2 inches thick-----when I buy wood it is in log form.
Then I have it cut to my needs. There are some things we make that I need 16/4 slabs for. The smallest lumber they cut for me is 2x6x8 if I need something smaller I can resaw it on my bandsaw.
I use a bunch of Cedar.
