? about pipe rack

i'm fixing to make a rack similar to this and am just thinking it out now as my shop is still packed up, but i can't seem to figure out how the oval grooves on the bottom are formed. i thought a round nose router bit, but then remembered the guide bushing is in the way... any ideas?

well, apparently i was confused, i found some round nose bits w/o a guide...

10-4. how big do you think that bit is? 3/4 looks like the most "common' large size but i've seen some pricey freud ones up to 1.5 inches.

i could've sworn there was another post in between these... it has vanished?

In pattern routing, you make a larger oval and use a guide bushing/bearing to follow outline. Plunge router and core box bit.

This could have been done with an overarm router...

U could use a round nose end mill

i got a good tip from someone about a rack like this... well, i can't find the picture i was looking for, but the hole, instead of being oval shaped is sort of a triangular shape. it's made by angling the base to your drill press and using the side of a forstner to create a triangular shaped indentation with a variable depth from front to back...
