A tip for making pens for teachers

My best friend is a high school teacher. So far I have made her seven pens and all but one have been stolen! The last one, I used a decal to put her initials on it. She still has it!

If you are making a gift for a teacher, or someone who works in an office, etc. consider putting their name or initials on the pen so it doesn't grow legs and walk off!

Yes, I had my favourite pen taken off of my desk in the staff prep room - so I'm quite upset about that. I don't take my good pens to work anymore

I insist that people pay to have their names laser engraved on pens and pencils. I do that on every gift pen I give as well.

Made a beautiful antler pen with plenty of natural antler showing for a man I worked with. I kept telling him, _ _ _ _ please leave that pen at home, it's too nice for work (electrical manufacturing). No, after 2-years--stolen. This time I told him he was paying for his name to be engraved. Same identical pen, natural anter showing, name (rather unique name) first name only. Didn't last two months. Stolen again.

What is someone to do with a pen with someone's else's name on it?

I have some further thoughts that will go unsaid.

That's a good idea Sharon. It probably works better in a school than a manufacturing environment. I can imagine someone with just a little tool experience could dremel the name out, and apply some finish.

My daughter is a teacher, and she lost 2 pens her 1st year. She no longer takes her pens to school.

I have a nice antler pen that I made for myself and used it at work for over 5 years and now at my market shows for the last 9 years... I still have it, but I've chased truck drivers and delivery men all the way off the dock to get it back more than once. I keep it in my cash box for people to sign their charge tickets with and watch to make sure I get it back each time.
