A salvaged pen and tried something new

I made this segmented pen a while back but got my pen kits confused and turned it to the wrong barrel sizes. I knocked it apart today and built it up with CA. Its yellowheart and yellow poplar. Can anyone explain why yellow poplar is green?

Someone recently posted some pens made with casted acorn caps so I thought that I would experiment and try one. Not perfect but a decent first try.

Poplar

I have seen poplar yellow , green, brown and purple. Just the way it grows.
But most of it is yellow.:biggrin:

Nice save, it came out nice as does the acorn cap blank. Two very nice pens
