Have any of you tried DMR radio? Although it is not true antenna to antenna communication I am truly amazed that with a little 4 watt Handy Talkie I was able to connect whit ham operators around the world with crystal clear communications. My home state of Connecticut is flooded with DMR Repeaters with more repeaters being added to the worldwide network every day. They are on both the VHF and UHF bands so anyone with a Tech ticket of above have privileges. Amazing stuff.

dmr

I have just started using dmr and so far I love it. There is a learning curve when it comes to the programing but the fun more than makes up for it.

Can't say I have. I've not used my radios much for a few years. Got a little Yaesu Tri-bander HT and a Yaesu mobile. I suppose I should fire them up and get on the air. We've got a pretty good 2 meter repeater network here in Maine, and that is where I mostly operated.

I helped build the DMR in CT, it is true antenna to antenna if you use the local talk group (local9). You probably use my repeater in Wolcott. That machine has great coverage

I can hit the Wolcott repeater however my club operates one in Prospect (W1LAS) so I use theirs most of the time. I do love this new technology though. Crystal clear communications all around the world with a little HT.
