I mostly lurk here because most of what I've done really hasn't fallen into the category of pen 'making', but that's beginning to change, so here we go.
I won this pen in an ebay auction years ago and have always planned on making a cap for it. Recently, with the help of a friend, I've gotten the hang of multi-start threading on my lathe (SouthBend 9A).
The cap is made out of black hard rubber and the internal threads are 36tpi, four start.
I'm trying to better determine the exact vintage of the pen so that I may finish the cap lip and add an appropriate clip. If the nib is original to the pen, it was made near the end of 1952, but sometimes earlier pens had their nibs pulled for the war effort and replaced in later years.
The artist that did this pen was Senzan Murata (1901-1976).
