Just finished a new collection of peppermills since I sold all the others I had in stock.. I've been playing with some segmentation.. still need to perfect that.. a couple of these have glue lines that aren't to my liking, but overall effect I liked. Also did a couple of natural woods... like to see what you think.

and last and least, Myrtle Burl, Australian, 8 1/2" high.
All were finished with wipe on poly, gloss and then buffed with carnuba, except for the Myrtle.. I sanded it to 500 grit and just used the carnuba wax on it... all are crush grind style mills.
Part of these were done on the new lathe..Jet 1442.. what a sweet machine to work on.. the others were done on my littl Jet 1014.. all were buffed on the 1014.

Once you start on laminates, Chuck, your other mills won't sell (if displayed together). That's been my experience. Prospects SEE the exotic laminates, usually figure they are too expensive (about $100), but don't buy regular wood after seeing the nicer laminate. I have not figured out how to solve this problem yet, but it IS a problem (for me)

One other thing, though. They seem to accept ANY lamination. I am starting to use maple and walnut, simple vertical lamination, one inch strips (so only 3 pieces of wood). They sell well between the $60 for wood and $100 for laminate - $75 "poor man's laminate" (but I don't call them that in front of customers!!)

Another thought! (I think I'll go back to bed, that's overperformance, for one day)
