I can tell you that I got the better end of this pen swap!
Below are pictures of the pen that I sent to Amos, my Ausie Pen Swap pen partner. (woodenink)
Being from South Carolina I centered my idea / theme of the pen to represent the area.

The Upper Barrel is a SC state quarter Clear Casting
The Lower Barrel and Desk Base are both turned from Dogwood, SC's State Tree. The wood actually came from a dogwood tree that had been on family land since 1948.
The base is a second Cap - Desk Base – It will hold the pen as a presentation piece and or as functional desk pen. I shaped the base to show as much of the natural bark from the wood as I could. I did soak the bark with some thin CA in areas that were loose in order to keep it from falling apart. The mossy looking coating on the bark is called lichen – it is a harmless fungus type "stuff" that seems to take over many of the Dogwood trees.

Other than the Platinum Finished Baron pen components the rest of the pen is all native South Carolina materials.
It is a nice pen – But if you have seen the treasure Amos sent me you will see why I feel I got the better end of this swap!

Thank you Amos!!!!
