Wow. This is part of why I sprung the extra for a smart phone on 4G. If we lose power for a few days, I can still hold boredom at bay and even head out to a car to charge it up and let the kids chill out and watch a tiny, tiny TV. Mike, I hope you didn't suffer too much property damage and that it doesn't get absurdly hot while you wait for power to be restored.
WOW! I'm not normally this lucky!! Last night I checked AEP's web site for any updates on restoring power. The estimate for my area was midnight, 7/7/12. I went outside and topped off the generator with gas for the night. About 30 minutes later the power came back on! I don't know what happend, but I ain't complaining. :biggrin:
Send the guys doing the restore work a letter of thanks. Hopefully they will get it and maybe do your area first next time. As a former power company employee I don't envy those linesmen at all. Winter storms they are out there fixing lines that blow down. Transformer blows up in the summer heat - out in the sun replacing it.
