This is for my neighbor. She's almost 93 and had a maple tree taken out a couple years ago. She's lived there a long time and watched that tree grow over the years. I noticed some spalting, so I nabbed a few pieces. I finally cut into one of them and made her this little bowl. It's about 4-1/4" wide and 2" high. The finish is pens plus. Overall, it came out much better than I expected and I'm quite pleased. The wood is beautiful. It's just the finishing I need to polish my skills on (I know, bad pun, but I own it).
