And A little sneak preview…

Not only has turning given me a great hobby, but it has introduced me to some great people and best of friends. Last Saturday I had the opportunity to hangout with two of them… Mark Dreyer and " The Father of Penturning" Dick Sing. Mark and I had the honor of filming Dick's latest demonstration on how he makes Precision Inlays for a number of projects. It was mind blowing, as he usually is. I know that man has forgotten more than I'll ever know. Here's a few pictures of his projects where he uses inlays. What I admire most about him is he turns items he uses in everyday life from pocket watches, bolos, lamp knobs, jar lids and more. I had bought a few of his books starting out and years later found out he lives 45 mins from me. Truly a great guy and lots of fun.

The demonstration is part of the upcoming virtual event. Here's the original post if anyone's interested in attending…

Dick Sing does great work and I owe him the credit for my introduction into birdhouse and other smaller ornaments. He has a style that is very appealing to the eye. One of those artisans that you wish you can follow around for years and just absorb their knowledge.

Awesome
You threw the bait and I just
might take a bite
LOL…. We'll here's a little more bait….
Jeff Hart will show you how he makes Hybrid Spheres, and I have 2 demos… one on casting for Woodturners (larger blocks not pens) and one on pen blanks where I show how I make my Playing Card blanks, Watch part blanks and more… plus the other big names mentioned in the link above. Thankfully it comes with a 30 day replay because I'm really excited to see the other demos. They are all top notch demonstrators and turners.

Any chance of recording
the demo and sell cd's
After the fact
May be a little $$ for the
cookie jar ??

Met Mr Sing some years back in the UK and a true pleasure to have him explain his methods and show examples of his work.

Glad to know he's still on form and in good condition.

regards Ian

It's a great thought but unfortunately we don't own them and only get them for the event. Also some will be live sessions. There is a 30 day free playback with registration on all of the demos. I know I'll be taking advantage of that.
