A great alternative to body scanners at airports

The Israelis are developing an airport security device that eliminates the privacy concerns that come with full-body scanners at the airports.

It's a booth you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you. They see this as a win-win for everyone, with none of the whining about racial profiling. It also would eliminate the costs of long and expensive trials. Justice would be swift. Case closed!

You're in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system: "Attention standby passengers — we now have a seat available on flight number ____. Shalom."

That will never work here in the States, the ASPCA ans Searia Club will have a fit and file a gazillion law suits over the inocent bugs being killed and the release of toxic gasses from the explosions.

Now hold on a minute. The bugs would flourish on the rotting carcasses. The only casualties would be the bugs on the terrorists at the time of the explosion. And what is toxic about a rotting corpse? I say we give it a trial run.

"However, there will be a slight delay... Haz-mat team to terminal 23, Haz-mat team... Terminal 23."

In all seriousness, EL AL has the strictest cargo security program in existence... has been since long long before 9/11... There's an automatic 72 hour hold on all cargo. They won't tell you when it will ship, what flight it will be on, or any information until the shipment has arrived at destination. Hazmat regulations are strict and severe... they've never had an incident that I know of.
