A lot of people have a couple of hard drives around that are no longer in use. The above are the magnets from inside the drive, they are rare earth very strong magnets. I have been saving them for years. I did some mortgage office clean outs when the crash hit some years ago.

All the peoples info appling for loans that was on the disks drives, unprotected. The building complex manager asked if I could destroy the drives to protect the info, I said yes.
They are great and at the right price if you have some.

I use them on the walls and peg boards to hold hex keys and spur drive centers.

Here is one other use I have them mounted in two locations on a number of vacuum hose end fittings. Even if I 'm not using the vacuum to suck the chips while turning. If the hose is hooked up it will catch a lot of the stuff and you can brush stuff off the lathe bed and rest etc.
This photo is a twofer, as an old cookie sheet I keep under the cutting area of the lathe it collects a lot of the chips and is easy to empty.

These are some magnets that will work for making mini parts/screw/tool holding tool dishes.

Of course these type tins are perfect for storing stuff with or without the magnets, or with or with out the lids. Just bend the hinge tabs a little and you have two walled trays. So the little bits don't roll, should be good for containing the small roll away parts for the pen kits!

Here is one with the lid on the lathe.
