Just fiddling about in my first day back in the workshop after my fall. I think that this design could be a 'fidget' pen as the lines run all around. I may change the Mahogany to a veneered insert as it makes it look a bit heavy, if I ever make another one.

Try simple segmentations.....simple does not mean easy as you need to find different coloured timbers that look good together and that a good symmetry is achieved.
I have two examples here......
