No, its a skew. In the missing #5, we will tell you that.

I take the video from the opposite side of the lathe, so it is sometimes difficult to see the angle of the tool. When "cutting" I keep it nearer vertical. But shaving the blank to do finish work, it can be closer to horizontal.

Remember, a skew "catches" when both ends touch the blank simultaneously--so the closer to horizontal you get, the more likely you will have a "catch".

Many sources recommend a scraper for turning acrylics. I used one for a while---too slow and I never learned how to sharpen so it would move faster.

FOR ME (YOU ARE encouraged to try them all) the skew is fast and easy.
