Ummm...that's the freakiest and coolest thing I've seen this week! There are so many applications to this that come to mind, especially in the fields of architecture and design.

I have seen the printing of 3D stuff before but what amazed me was the way they scanned the 3D image. Very cool stuff.

There was another thread about this on here, and as I said there, there must have been a significant step they brushed over in converting the scan to a 3d CAD drawing that contained internal structures you can't see from the outside (like the pin that makes the thumbscrew work without falling out....) Of course not everything can be explained in detail on something like this in a 4 minute video, but the technology is fantastic....I'm betting you can even use it to create things that could not be made any other way, functional objects that could not be assembled once the parts were made individually...
