A few days ago my wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. She wanted to do something different, so she booked us a couple of nights at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. If you've never heard of it, they have these crazy themed rooms. We'd talked about that place over the years and her curiosity got the better of her. We had a great time.

I decided to rent a car for our road trip and surprised her with a Mustang convertible. We spent a day in Avila Beach and Morro Bay with the top down on the car all day. We also took a day to drive up to Monterey and drive down the coast highway. The only bummer was that it was pretty cloudy and it got cold and started raining at one point. So we had to stop and put the top back up for the rest of the day, but it was good to warm back up.

Good to hear the Madonna Inn is still in business! I'm happy to hear that it is still open and offers their 'unique' rooms! ;>) We often have thought of spending a night or two there as several friends have highly recommended the inn and wonderful service. Glad you and your wife enjoyed special anniversary and the stay at the Inn... Regrettably, we are no longer in the area and may still stay an day or two there when we're in the area although... Happy anniversary to you and your wife, (newley weds no doubt...;>)). We've been married for over 46 years and love each other more each and every day! Congratulations and may you both have MANY, many more! Safe carving and turning to you!
 
Been to Mondonna Inn many times Used to spend my USAR summer training at Camp Roberts just over the hill and wife would come down for the weekend thats where we would go spent many hours at Avalia beach also before it was rebuilt. Made a few trip down HWY 1 in our mustang 1966 but not a convertible a GT 350 will be doing it again in 2016 on our 50th anniversary in the the mustang, if I can still drive the damn thing. No power steering, or power brakes and a stiff clutch and no AC, does have a heater and AM radio. Love the central coast from Monterey to Santa Barbara beautiful drive almost better than going North from Frisco. Going over to the coast this weekend but not in the Mustang in my wife's Mini Cooper. 95cid and 121 hp vs 289 cid and 325 hp ride should be smoother and quieter and as much fun.

Happy 25th! We've stayed at Madonna Inn a few years back - had a Fred Flinstone themed room which was great except the shower was somewhere between weird and awkward. :smile:
 
Bill/Tom/Tim...Friday Harbor is a great choice locally! We love it and plan on staying many more times there! My bride & I spent MANY Anniversaries/Father's Days at the annual Pismo Beach Car Show and loved every minute of it!!! We attempted to restore several 1967/68 Mustangs (including a 67 Cobra Conv.) but never entered the show... Oh well, by 2007 Mustang Pony Coupe still keeps the 'Mustang love alive) and we use it often to cruise the beautiful Washington/Oregon/Calif. coast line! Safe turning and enjoy every minute in your Mustangs!

My first wife and I spent a couple of nights at the Madonna Inn... it's a crazy place to visit.. only complaint I had was the bed was terrible, sagged in the middle like maybe someone had broken a slat or something and the inn didn't fix it... plus there was a life sized cherub (about 4' tall) hanging over the bed that worried me all night... otherwise we had a blast.

I think we were still in my '65 Corvette and took a drive over to the Hearst Castle, then down the coast highway.... don't remember if we ran with the top down or not... the wind might have messed up her hair... :eek:

When I was still single and before we met, I used to run with the top down, the tunneau cover over the passenger side and the heater up full blast... nights, even in summer, get cold in the Bay Area.
