Get your entries in for the 2022 Birthday BASH – Youth Pen Making Contest.

Entries close February 21, 2022, at Midnight Mountain Time.

First and foremost most, Mr. Vic - Thanks again for hosting this competition.

You will have two coming from me. I have competitive siblings who have chosen two blanks that are among the most unforgiving material us pen makers regularly work with. Sure, why make it easy on dad? Lots of patience and negative rake scraping involved! Oh, and sharpening said negative rake scraper every two minutes.
Dad: oh, look. Here is some nice cherry, or maple, or alumilite.
Kids: but those blanks over there are prettier! Can we use those?
Dad: head down, hands on face

To all the parents out there - it is worth the time getting your kids into the shop.

I hear you! - my son started with an Inlace Acrylester blank named "Peacock". It did make a beautiful pen, but wow what an experience theaching a new turner using Inlace! - Dave
