Entry Eight
Title of Your Entry: Red Mallee
Description: I was lucky enough to find a beautiful piece of Red Mallee Burl just long enough for this Panache kit in 10K gold, which shows it off without distraction. The finish is Glu-Boost CA, polished with zona paper, then buffed with tripoli and white diamond. I lost count of how many layers of CA were used since the blank was not stabilized, but it took quite a few extra dabs here and there and a good scraping to level it all out.

Entry Nine
Title of Your Entry: 500 Year old crosscut Old Growth Pine
Description: This is a custom pen made for someone who had some old growth pine. This is cross cut and his forester estimated the wood to be nearly 50 years old. The chatoyance doesn't come through in the pictures but this was a fun pen to turn. The land this guys wood came from had only been owned by two families in its history and had been given to one of them as a gift from King Arthur of England. This old growth pine came from stakes that were used to mark out property lines.
