Well everyone. I have my little ones for the weekend 2 from the 1st marrage,
I took the opportunity to show them what daddy does for his little hobby.
I showed my daugher 11 and son only 10 how to turn a couple slims. Slims 1 gold and 1 flat black.
Daughter did a gold with Paduk and Purple heart. Son did his with Red Oak. WHich turned out quite nice actually. (for oak)

OK sorry for the pics FYI 8MP cameras dont like falling 7 feet onto solid pavement. So I am back to an old 4 mp so quality pics these are not.

Either way All I did was cut the blank, drill the hole glue in tube... They did 100% of the work from that point on. With verbal and pointing.

The last one is of mini me in training 3 rd and final one from my current marrage. She has to learn to write before she can make them. At 16 months we have a bit to go.

FIne looking kids ya got there chief. Great pens.

Let me get this straight, her first pen was a purpleheart??? That's awesome! The red oak has excellent shape, too.

You know what they say... a family that turns together, somethingsomething together!!!

Yes purple heart and paduk. I have lots of these woods laying around. So that's what I let her use.

This is what I call a "family affair".

Very nice to see your lovely kids (well... the older ones!) making their own pens, at their young age. Hope they remember wood turning as they grow-up!

Cheers
George

Congratulations on getting the family involved. Well done!

In my retirement, I am going to open shop in the US to my grandkids and train them - if they want it.

Beautiful kids! They both did good jobs - wood and slimline kits about $5. Memories for a lifetime . . . priceless!

The only problem I envision is your time on the lathe now. Oh well, 2 more lathes won't break the bank!

Great to see kids turning!
