This is 2 layers of aluminum in the celtic knot. Leyland Cypress timber. Wall StII kit. First one I've done by myself. The jig I mentioned earlier proved its worth, I just had to add magic marker arrows pointing up to avoid flipping the blank halfway through on accident again.

This is the best I have seen from you.

Many thanks. The only problem I encountered came from it being physically impossible to center perfectly on the drill press. The tight spot is under the clip and it'd still really clean there, too.

Try looking into a dedicated drill press for your lathe and measuring the blank square. I found that with work like this I always cut my own blanks at 1" x 1" x 6". Easy numbers to keep centered and allows for larger kits. Truth be told though, this looks awesome and I think you did a great job turning and fitting it to the kit!

Allan, That's a smart looking pen! I've never done a Celtic knot but definitely admire those who can. Thanks for showing! Doc

I'd like to have the option of drilling on the lathe, but funds are insufficient. And the only time I have a major issue is on knots and segments. Not often enough to make it worth forcing the issue.
