Tap & die. Tap went ok, I must have gotten the die off center a bit because i did it by hand, no Die holder. There you have it, my failure laid out to the world. I picked up a lot through that little practice shot. Carl

THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!

You may have just helped me solve at least part of my problem with the die. I have been trying to cut threads on a spindle three times as long as what you have there. I may actually be able to get that to work!!

I made a homemade die holder. it's not pretty but it works. I beleive you can find a picture and brief explanation in the jigs and fixtures board.

Hi, thanks for taking a look. If you look at the kit pens, you can see where the threads don`t go all the way to the shoulder. I went almost there then i saw that it wasn`t going to work well. So i turned the threads off. The tap doesn`t matter so long as it is long enough to close, i went in about an inch. And onward down the slippery slope we go .... Carl
