hard to twist

I have a Sierra Vista that I just assembled and the twist mechanism is very stiff, as in hard to turn. Any ideas of how to loosen this up without disassembling the pen? I didn't try it before assembly so I don't know if it was already tight or got that way when it was put together. Thanks, Ken
