Finally finished my latest hybrid customized fountain pen. This one also included some yakisugi (shou sugi ban) style hickory in the middle. Finished in CA to a satin finish (although it looks glossier in these photos).

I only end up using half the pen kit for these customized pens so if anyone knows how to source pieces and parts of a kit without buying the whole thing, I'm all ears.

There are so many things I like about this. First, the choice of materials is very appealing. Second, I love the segmenting. Some elements could be a little tighter for upper and lower same dimensions, but this is a minor thought. Finally, your overall profile is beautiful!

I've tried aluminum cans as well but it was too thin for me. This is scrap aluminum from a guttering company. Not sure of the exact gauge but it's about 1/2mm.
