I like experimenting with tools. A while back I bought a Crown 3/8 inch spindle gouge. Anyone turn pen blanks, wood and synthetic, with a spindle gouge? Thanks.

Yep, when I first started turning I wanted to learn how I could cut with each tool so I spent some time only using each. Made many pens with a spindle gouge. Now I prefer finishing them off with a skew.

Ah yes, ye olde skew. Have lots of odds & ends for practice.

Yes to the spindle gouge, skew and even bowl gouges. Good skill building to see what you can make work.

3/4 inch Spindle Roughing Gouge, for both acrylic and wood.

Thanks to all. Will put the info in the the to-do list. Right now, I'm up to my eyebrows in bolt action kits to display Saturday.
