For me I was curious whether stabilizing would help mitigate the "fuzzy" margins of the end grain ply layers. I didn't anticipate some of the colors bleeding as much as they did, which negated the minor "defuzzification."
My notes indicate the blanks sucked up resin at about 75% of the blank weight, and the dye bleed made the residual resin unusable for anything but a dark wood. That wasn't a big deal to me at the time, because I was using the dregs of a supply near the end of its use window.
