Well, God obviously wanted me to learn something new! Last Tuesday I had a fall, landed on the sidewalk, ended up in Er resulting in a new right hip on Wednesday!
This isn't the kind of accident I ever thought I would have!
Start therapy on Thursday! Appreciate your prayers!

Praying for you, Keith.

I am not far behind you. Since my knee replacement 14 months ago, my gait has been off just enough to throw my direction off a few inches here, there, and yonder, and stepping on a slightly higher rock or bump or just a low spot almost makes me fall. I am well aware of it and my wife has noticed it too. My legs are the same length, so it is not that. I exercise on an exercise bike, so I am not immobile. And I work part time 4 days a week most weeks.

The problem is I have arrived at the situation almost to where you are, and I know that I am a step away from a fall. The certainty of total stability while walking or even standing without something to lean is just gone. My doctors know it and tell me to "be careful". "Use a cane, take one with you even when you don't think you need it."

I did not expect to get this way this quick. My mind is fine (OK, No comments from those that know me 😁 ) but my body is playing tricks on me too. Praying for you!

And I bet no one told you either that the 'golden years' just meant you were gonna need lots of it for medical bills!!! Wishing you a full, quick recovery.

Kevin
I think they are called the "Golden Years" because you need a ton of it to survive.
My sister in law fell last week and broke her hip in three places.
Get well quick Keith

Got you on the prayer list!

I took a similar fall a while back, thought I could just jump and shake it off as I have done in time past.
Responding Deputy helped me to stand, wouldn't take my weight. Ended up in the hospital and they ended up screwing my hip back together
I was lucky, it's the same leg where I'm needing a knee replacement 😏
Growing older, there's always new adventures ahead....prayers

Turned 81 last month. All I can say is aging is not for sissies. Joint replacements, illnesses only 'older' people get, dermatology visits to get those full body scans searching for evil, strange looking lesions and marks on your arms, legs and/or head, forgetting where I put (insert object, person or animal here), the ever increasing number of pills, injections and medicinal liquids (no, not THAT kind). New challenges every day. What I dread the most is falling, as some of you have attested to already.

Here's hoping your recovery is short and make sure you religiously follow your rehab and therapy regimes. From experience, therapy does work but you have to work at it. Wishing you good luck.

Thanks John - I know this aging stuff is a little less than desirable but the alternative kind of stinks!

Quick update!
I appreciate all of your prayers and thoughts.
Sometimes I am surprised at the progress and others discouraged!
Its been 10 days - and pain is well managed. Moving well with the walker - hit over 2000 steps per day the last two days!. Have taken a few steps with the cane and a few stand alone. I have had one thereapy session and I thought the therapist was trying to punish me for some reason!!
So far generally pleased with the progress!
Again thank you all for your prayers and thoughts
