I bought this cool little gadget from Lee Valley. I had never even heard of an optical center punch before. It's rather inexpensive and works like a charm. It's very well made and looks cool in my workshop.

I got mine from Grizzly, uses two different clear parts. had it for years.

Yep. Learned about them a few years ago. When I turned my wood lathe into a semi-metal lathe, I wanted to improve my precision.
