I do not like when the operator illustrates dangerous work habits. Aside from that I'll take my 1221 over his poor man's lathe. No safety gear or anything.

In the early seventies I was in another country… worked in a metal foundry casting irrigation parts. Dipped a ladle into molten material. There were no safety standards. Lots of injuries.Recall that other countries do have not safety standards in place. Safety, if there is such a thing, is up to the individual. There was a show with Indian men working for ten cents a day disassembling ships for scrap. Working with asbestos, oil, chemicals, etc., and no safety standards at all. I look at the restaurant reports for the area. The vast majority of low scores or failures are the Hispanic and Asian restaurants. Again, they have no standards in their home countries and aren't aware of standards in place here. They are re-inspected and have higher scores. The health department offers training in food safety, etc., so they are aware of the standards.
