The wife was away at work all day and it was a little too cold for the deer stand, so I thought I'd do some baking…. Or at least some warming/ drying. These are thistle pods. They don't have a nice aroma like cherry pits but they sure make nice blanks.

I also cooked some acorn caps, pine cones, walnut shells, cherry pits and rose pedals.
It was a good day. I hear tomorrow's going to be colder so maybe some more baking. 😬

I learned something from this: Thistle pods - I thought it was cockleburs. SO I looked it up and found out that while thistle pods and cockleburs look similar, they are from different plants. I grew up on a farm and am well familiar with "cockleburs" which latch onto dogs and clothes and socks!
