Since I seldom sell any of the pens I turn, I've built up quite an inventory of segmented pens laying around the house. I turned to bowls as my next adventure. Here are three of my most recent bowls. Segmented bowls are soon to make it to the top of my list of things to turn!

This is a nice piece of mango -

This is a piece I got from Mark James some time ago, I don't know what the wood is:

Finally walnut (also given to me by Mark James):

Very nice steve...good shape and finish! I love the bowls that the top turns in a little..do they call that design calabash? Just love the woods you used....particularly the "mystery" wood!

I've had a nice piece of spalted maple with a faceplate already attached sitting on my bench for a couple of weeks. Just haven't gotten the cajones to start yet. I have virtually no experience with non-spindle turning. I have the bowl gouge, scrapers, and chuck I need. I know the theory of how it works. I just... haven't started haha.

Very attractive bowls Steve. I'm really happy to see the blanks being used. Sorry, but I can't identify the mystery timbers...

I agree that the foray into other turnings is a great way to stay energized for playing at our lathe. I love seeing what others are doing.

Be well, Mark
