And it happens to also be my first funnel. Anyone happen to know where I might find a 2.25"x 3/8" insert. Asking for a friend…..

pretty funny when the wife comes downstairs to ask if she did in fact hear a lone curse word.

Haha been there, done that, got the t-shirt. It does look like it went well otherwise. I would definitely make/cast a plug for that. Turn it into a highlight.

Measure the opening in the bowl then turn a matching plug and glue it in. You will need to have a sacrificial piece glued to the insert piece or better yet a mortise to insert your chuck jaws or cole jaws either way you will need to blend the bottom inside and out to the balance of the bowl.
I have made a few segmented bowls and make the inserts for the bottom. The pics below are some of the inserts. Keep in mind with any bowl the wood always moves . I tend to make inserts (bowl bottoms ) out of several pieces to minimize movement .
