That's very nice. I just finished a Desire using an acrylic blank and have a little of the blank left. Can you share how you prepare the top for the epoxy glue and how you secure it while it while the glue dries? Appreciate any help. I'll have to have my wife do the gluing as I get too shaky. Have you ever had one get knocked off that you know of? It looks pretty vulnerable up there. It sure does make that pen into something special - very nice touch.

Thank you.

I basically scratch the center up with a hobby knife to give it a little texture for purchase. I'm using 5 min epoxy so I put a dab on the cap, then center the finial visually. I have a little bench top craft vise I inherited that I keep the pen in while it cures. To be honest, I babysit it for the first couple mins while the epoxy cures to ensure it stays centered. It's certainly not a quick process for knocking things out in bulk. Once the epoxy tacks up, I leave it alone (actually, I probably check it a couple times the first hour after tack up.) it's a bit tedious.

I haven't yet tried machining a pocket for them to sit in, although Tim says there's room - they actually mill out a pocket for a pen company (the name escapes me) and the cost isn't much more. I'm yet to see one of these to try them.

Fingers crossed, I've not yet had one knocked off in the wild. Although I don't have a ton of them out there. I carry one myself. I think the epoxy will do a good job keeping them attached but obviously a good direct bump could knock it loose.
