A customer wanted a pen from a particular acrylic and asked if I could make finials in a colour to match the blue visible within the swirls. After looking around a bit I decided the only way was to cast my own in alumilite. I mixed mica powders until it looked about right and this is the result.
I've cast quite a few of my own blanks in the past but tend to stick to acrylics/cellulose/wood for making pens. However it is very useful to have around when you need a specific colour or want to achieve a specific effect.

Cheers

Looks great. The finials really bring out the blue in the blank. Nice to be able to do that kind of customized work.
