Here is another one with mica applied to a tube and then clear cast. the trim rings were in the casing.
This is a Duo Chrome Mica.
Between not making any pens in a couple years and trying new things I have been ruining more than I make.

That's a beauty. 0n the segmented rings, the lighter wood is not a consistent shade. It caught my eye and I really like the effect. It adds a nice aged look to it, like an heirloom passed on a couple generations (as it likely will be). That's not to say that the mica isn't eye catching.

Thanks! That was a happy accident. It is maple and the effect came from making it part of the casting. I think that the epoxy was forced into softer areas under the pressure.
P.S. I looked back at the blank for the trim rings and it is curly maple and the curl areas are naturally darker.
